FMS comprises a highly experienced team of engineers who offer skills and knowledge of some 30 years, drawn from a broad range of industries.  Our strength comes from this diversity - we know the specialised needs of our clients' industries and we know how to deliver.

Richard Tankersley
MANAGING DIRECTOR
Richard established FMS in 2003 after identifying a market need for quality data communication support services across a wide range of applications.  The ability to identify this opportunity arose from his experience of more than 26 years in the industry, much of which he acquired in field work. A radio technician by training, Richard brings to FMS a strategic perspective gained from his involvement in an extensive array of organisations.  A particular focus for Richard is the company's engineering consulting services, through which he is keen to ensure that FMS delivers not only on a client's immediate needs, but develops solutions that continue to provide value in the long term.

Andrew Curtis
SCADA ENGINEER
A radio technician of some 26 years experience, Andrew is the primary liaison for Electra, FMS's major electricity lines company client.  His extensive expertise in SCADA technology has progressed along with his career as he's moved from Telecom New Zealand to ALSTOM and then Transfield, before joining FMS in 2003.  Assuming a pivotal role in Electra's recent upgrade of its SCADA interface, Andrew embraced the opportunity to undertake training at Motorola's facilities in Tel Aviv on the capabilities of its MOSCAD remote terminal units and control units.  Now the resident expert in all things Motorola, Andrew continues to ensure that Electra's distribution network is operating accurately and reliably.

Stephen Morris
SCADA ENGINEER
Stephen brings some 30 years in electrical engineering to FMS. Starting working life as a linesman, Stephen gained his electrical apprenticeship to move into the 'Technician's Room', where he spent the next few years working towards his NZCE.  Training in computer engineering soon followed, along with his introduction in 1990 to SCADA technology.  Stephen's SCADA skills have grown to match the increasing sophistication of the technology, which today, though smaller and more modular, demands greater understanding of system design and operation.  However, with such broad industry experience, FMS taps Stephen's expertise in a full range of projects, which can be anything from installing communications towers to developing electrical specifications of motel units.

Scott Billington
RADIO ENGINEER
An employee of FMS since 2006, Scott holds a Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Computer Science and a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Radio Engineering.  Scott has experience in the design, installation, technical maintenance and repair of base station and radio links - both mobile and fixed, both analogue and digital systems.  His expertise also includes the installation of Wireless LAN networks for building-to-building and point-to-multi-point projects.  As an Approved Radio Engineer Scott is able to certify both spectrum and radio licences, which means FMS can offer complete radio technology solutions in-house from concept to installation.

Phil Brock
ELECTRICIAN (APPRENTICE)
Phil brings a broad background of work experience to the FMS team, ranging from teaching to adventure eco-tourism.  His employment at FMS four years ago echoes an earlier stage in his diverse career, as a mechanical fitter for ALSTOM undertaking substation maintenance.  Currently Phil is nearing completion of electrician's apprenticeship to support FMS's service offering in electrical engineering.  Phil's skills are put to good across a variety of projects from commercial building developments to residential alterations and extensions.

Catherine Duxfield
ADMINISTRATION MANAGER
Catherine came to FMS with a background in accounting and years of experience in home schooling her children - skills that are proving ideal for keeping the FMS team in line.  An efficient organiser, Catherine ensures FMS is in prime working order and that its administrative systems are running smoothly.  She derives great satisfaction from achieving a neat and tidy office from the challenging stream of paperwork that underpins FMS's business operations.
